Physician Portal

Context

Eve Kit is an at home STI testing kit for women, that is a convenient alternative to the traditional health care system. Women are able to purchase an Eve Kit online or at a drugstore, collect a sample in the privacy of their own home, mail back the sample, and receive their results in just a few days. Throughout this process, each customer is personally looked after by a remote physician that ensures that they understand their results and receive the right aftercare. An important component throughout this process is the administrative and physician portal that is used to manage the end to end experience of each customer and patient.

Process

Before we began designing the portals, it was important to establish how each of the users’ journeys would intersect and work together. We began by investigating the workflows of both the physicians and laboratories, to identify all their strict requirements as well as any potential opportunities. Once we had a clear idea of what was required, we were able to collaborate on the patient user journey, that would be both pleasant to use and fulfilled the regulatory requirements. In the end we were able to mesh together all the user journeys into a cohesive process model that would help guide us in the development of each of the portals.

Solutions

For the physicians, I created a dashboard that would allow them to quickly manage new and ongoing patients. Inspired by their typical workflow, the dashboard features a journal where they can find all the relevant information about a patient, including their medical history and current progress. In order to expedite their most common use of the journal, the physician can quickly view a patient’s history and update their progress by expanding the row.

As for the administrators, I created a simplified dashboard that allows them to oversee the progress of each customer, while also maintaining their privacy. Each entry only displays the most relevant information for each stage. In the event of a problem, an administrator is able to request access to specific additional information. Each request is tracked and communicated to all parties for full transparency.
